THAILAND BANGKOK TRAVEL 2013: Amari Watergate Hotel & Spa + Vertigo & Moon Bar, Banyan Tree Bangkok

Headed to Bangkok during the long Hari Raya Haji weekend and decided to stay at Amari Watergate Hotel & Spa.
We decided to stay as close as possible to the shopping district a.k.a Platinum Mall. Amari Watergate is conveniently located right in front of Platinum Mall!!!

In the end, we actually didn't shop much on this trip...more like "I" didn't shop much but we had so much fun venturing around & eating eating eating :-)

Spent 3 hours swimming, using the jacuzzi & steam room all by myself one morning

The lobby at the hotel...always packed with people...surprisingly there were more people checking in on a Monday compared to Saturdays or Sundays...

Loved the spacious & clean bedroom...design looks reasonably new too though the design of the building on the outside is quite old

Welcome fruit platter & Thai confectioneries :-)

On the first day itself, we headed for dinner at the Vertigo & Moon Bar at Banyan Tree :-)

I first found out about this place after watching a marriage proposal video circulating on Facebook and the proposal took place at this very restaurant/bar...

I also did my "research" and knew that the best time to be at the restaurant was at sunset (around 6pm) when the sky begins to change its color :-)

Please remember to take into account the horrendous traffic jam (as bad as Kuala Lumpur!)...was slightly late though we were traveling from our hotel just 5km away!

Originally, the waitress wanted to place us at the tables down there...(there are 3 tiers/deck) but honeybee requested for them to place us at a higher deck as the view was much more beautiful...we couldn't get the highest deck as there was an event...Suspected that it was another proposal as I saw a guy standing at the highest deck holding a bouquet of flowers...

We only made reservations online the night before and was surprised that we could book/reserve a place here as the food reviews was better than Sirocco at The Dome, Lebua State Tower (which was full)...but do make reservations early so that you don't get disappointed. Better safe than sorry right? :-)

and on my side was the view of the city...a fusion of modern Thai and Old School Thai...loved it! :-)

Happiness is a state of mind? It sure is!
Blessed & Blissful

The City during the Day
This was what I was TALKING ABOUT!!! *excited* Look how beautiful it was once the sky began to change it's color...

Beautiful Gradient Sky :-)

The City as it becomes Night :-)

Fly me to the moon and let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars

In other words, hold my hand
In other words, darling, kiss me

Fill my heart with song and
Let me sing forever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore...
As the sky turned dark...it became hard to read the menu...yes, I'm an aunty with bad eyesight T__T
But the amazing view left me ~Breathless~

First up was the bread...nothing to shout about...

The Lobster Bisque was good! Rich & Creamy :-)

We ordered the signature appetiser

and yes, it taste as amazing as it looks

Sorbet (palate cleanser) was soft and melts in your mouth like cotton candy...cold cotton candy :-P

Kagoshima Ribeye. All beef/steak dishes comes with buttered asparagus, rocket salad, mash or baked potatoes and I opted for the Foie Gras sauce.

Wagyu beef that also came with buttered asparagus, rocket salad, mash or baked potatoes. To accompany the dish, we chose Truffle sauce!

It was so beautiful I just didn't want to leave but had to as it was a humid and stuffy day...was sweating like crazy despite looking all elegant and pretty~

The Lobby of the hotel

Eventhough I loved this place very much (for it's design, decor, the rooftop bar) but I wouldn't have decided to stay here as it is located pretty far from most of the main attractions in Bangkok. Also, I would prefer a hotel where I can just walk out and get a drink or food either at a food stall or convenience store nearby.

This "Olympic" looking center piece at the entrance made me go "Wow!" when we first arrived
