SOUTH KOREA TRAVEL 2013: Myeongdong, Hello Kitty Cafe & The National Folk Museum of Korea

If you are planning to head to Seoul and mainly just stay in Seoul I would highly recommend this hotell in the MyeongDong area called Skypark Hotel...
Very convenient as there are many retail outlets and restaurants nearby...we stayed here for our last 2 nights in Seoul :-)
If you are following a tour when travelling in South Korea, your tour guide will bring you to A LOT of direct selling "duty free" places to buy cosmetics/ginseng/etc...but I did a comparison and it is NOT cheaper...

We didn't shop much at any of those supposedly "duty free" places #cozwearesmartlikethat but we did take advantage of those free testers :-D
While walking out of the cosmetic outlet, it started snowing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So excited!!!

Within minutes, the road and cars were covered in snow!

We then headed to Hello Kitty Cafe!!! Was sooo looking forward to this place :-D

Would love to own a Hello Kitty cafe in Malaysia but the rights alone could be a few million T__T #poorstrugglingstudent

There's 3 outlets altogether in Seoul but there's a gigantic Hello Kitty museum on Jeju Island...which I unfortunately missed!

The outlet which we visited was near the Ewha Women's College

Hello Kitty merchandise!

Bought a pair of this Hello Kitty dolls as souvenir! :-D

Sorry...I just had to take a pic of the toilet because it was just too pretty! :-P

The Jeju Island museum which I was talking about!

That's an ice skating ring in the middle of the city near our hotel...

Western Buffet lunch at La Luce...

After lunch, we visited the National folk Museum of Korea...which is located in the same compound as one of the ancient palace...

This is the palace...

ancient chimney...

Had terrible frost bites as I only had my flats after my boots decided to "crocodile" T__T

Dongdaemun Shopping District at night...nothing much to shop...shopping here is overpriced too!

Lotte shopping mall...Lotte, Samsung and LG are gigantic empires in South Korea...if you notice, you can even find facial masks endorsed by Samsung...

This was around our hotel in Myeongdong

Hehe~

The long line at Prada...in case you were wondering, Longchamp & Prada in South Korea are worthy buys as it is much cheaper than in Malaysia...

We decided to have Bimbimbap for dinner as it was the only korean food we have not eaten yet...

Loving this cold chili crab dish!

If you are looking for duty free skin care items namely Sulwhasoo & Laneige, this is the place to go to...to be exact level 8. 9 & 10 is where you get discounted goods...I got my Laneige masks for 1/3 of the price of what it is selling in Malaysia!!!! and I thought buying it for 2/3 of the price in Hong Kong was already super cheap!

We had this 5 flavoured porridge for Breakfast the next morning, served with mantao bun...nothing to shout about :-(

I think the flavours were pumpkin, mushroom, kimchi, seaweed and the last one was soy...

We headed to Ewha Women's College area for some last minute shopping and we were going home that day...

Before heading to Korea, i actually read about this Cat cafe where you have cats running around and you can pet them...

Unfortunately, we were early and it wasn't open yet :-(

Hid in this cafe and had hot chocolate as the temperature was a crazy -8c!!!

Ewha Women's University...

Our final meal in Seoul was this Udon at another duty free snack outlet which we did some last minute "snack" shopping...
