NEW ZEALAND WORKING HOLIDAY 2011: The 1st week journey in Auckland

I saw my older brother's Facebook status reminiscing what he did exactly 1 year ago.....and it made me ponder on what I did exactly 1 year ago.....and then I realized....

Exactly 1 year ago, I was waiting patiently for more than 2 1/2 hours at the LCCT airport for someone's arrival....oh well, at least at that time I had a HUGE smile on my face as I believed the wait was worth it :-)

Funny how simple things like that could make the naive me sooo happy at that time. No regrets! coz I have treated the people around me like how I deserved to be treated and loved like how I deserved to be loved...

How people treat you is their karma, How you react is yours ~ Wayne Dyer

Fast forward 1 year later, I'm in a foreign land at the start of winter and while my friends & ex-colleagues are plucking kiwi fruits under the scorching UV-sunrays (the hole in the Ozon layer is located at this side of the world remember?), I am employed in Auckland's LARGEST & MOST PRESTIGIOUS X firm O_O.....I never knew how HUGE the company I was working with until I arrived here...

I'M ONE HELL OF A BLOODY LUCKY GIRL :-D

Can't really reveal to you all what's my exact position or role yet as I'm on a special secret mission (no kidding)...but I count my lucky stars over and over again ^__^

Coming over here I had no plans whatsoever...you read it RIGHT! No financial plans, career plans, how am I gonna survive, what am I going to do, what is my back up plan....

My friends were surprised coz as they jokingly say I would always "Plan things 5 years in advance" hahahah!!! In fact, I always have a 3-inch thick handbook/printout on things to see/eat/do everytime I travel.....

I guess this was my subconscious way of opening my mind and heart for a new beginning...by not limiting myself to see/do/eat ONLY whatever that is PLANNED...

Maybe this is SARAH MAY LOW growing up? To go with the flow as the future is UNPREDICTABLE?.....like you have read at the beginning of this blogpost....what I really wanted back then became impossible right now...

But one thing I'm sure of is, this journey will be a chapter of my life that I will never forget :-)

Flew over to this part of the world via Royal Brunei Airline...had to take a connecting flight at Brunei Airport...

Waited 4 1/2 hours there and got really hungry...The exchange rate in Brunei was similar to New Zealand...2.5..T__T

But!!!! being a lucky person...for RM50=Brunei dollar? 20

I got myself a smoked Salmon salad, a Grilled Chicken salad & a LARGE Caramel Frappucino at COFFEE BEAN :-D

So cheeeeappppp....coz the cashier messed up my order so he gave me 2 salads instead of 1...Muahahahah!!! My kiam-sap-ness comes from my Penang Hokkien blood :-P

The food at Brunei Airlines....blerghhh....fail max....in fact, I skipped one of the 3 meals they gave me :-(

Manage to sleep a bit throughout my flight and look what greeted me :-D

Here is my cue to sing "Somewhere over the Rainbow" :-P

A wonderful inspirational quote that greeted me upon my arrival :-)

"Every flyer who ventures across oceans to distant lands is a potential explorer; in his or her breast burns the same fire that urged adventurers of old to set forth in their sailing ships for foreign land"

I've got burning breast...don't mess :-D

Fell sick on my 4th day here...boo hoo :-( wasn't used to the weather yet...

So...EVERYTHING here is EXPENSIVE....what is cheap??? Chips & Chocolates :-D

Damn my waistline!!!

Oh yea!!! Pizza here is cheap too! Only NZD$5= RM12.50!!!

So basically, my first week consisted of going around my residential area...Introduction to Manukau 101 :-D

Asian Supermarket where you can find you Assam Laksa flavoured maggi mee, jeruk-jeruk, etc...

Super Gigantic Hunting & Fishing shop...

Followed my uncle here coz he need to get stuff to hunt Rabbits...a.k.a vermins...It's the year of the Wabbit afterall :-D

Fresh Fish & Seafood Place

Hardware Warehouse...

These Kiwis are BIG on D.I.Y...unlike Malaysia where labour are cheap...carwash here is a minimum NZD$40 wei!!! O__O

Children trolley...damn cute!

They even have D.I.Y workshops during the weekends :-D

Opposite was a stationery Warehouse...There are practically warehouses for everything....so yea....NZ is a quite ehem*boring* ehem place....so everyone have that much free time to D.I.Y...

A good place to sent your kids to study....at least they won't be spoilt like M'sian kids...blehhh!!!

Visited this Night Market located at the carpark of Warehouse in Pakuranga...

Full of people!!!

My favourite fruit :-D Buah DURIAN!!!

Some Red Indian performance...aren't the Aboriginals Maori instead????

The food section here is amazing!!!

Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese, South African, Maori, Turkish, French, English, Hungarian...

and not forgetting MALAYSIAN!!!

There was this Hungarian Pastry called Chimney which was really good and tasted like cinnamon roll...

NZD$ one piece...

Damn expensive...so I did the most Malaysian thing possible...tried the tester and chao :-P

WARNING! From today onwards, you're gonna have an influx of my blogpost updates...

SO THAT I WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN!!! :-P

Over & Out!
